The UCL Institute of Education’s Department of Social Science is looking to recruit a Senior Data Manager to join the Centre for Longitudinal Studies (CLS).

Applications are invited for a Senior Data Manager position in the Department of Social Science (DSS) which houses the Centre for Longitudinal Studies (CLS), an ESRC Resource Centre. CLS has responsibility for four of Britain’s internationally renowned cohort studies; 1958 National Child Development Study (NCDS)1970 British Cohort Study (BCS70)Millennium Cohort Study (MCS) and Next Steps (formerly the Longitudinal Study of Young People in England).

The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing the secure maintenance and strategic development of the data resources associated with the four national longitudinal cohort studies at CLS. The post-holder will be expected to lead and manage the CLS Data Management team.

This full-time appointment will be available immediately from October 2017 and is funded until 31st March 2020 in the first instance.

Key requirements

You will have an MSC or equivalent experience in a relevant quantitative discipline relevant to data management of the CLS cohort studies.

A high-level experience of database design and administration, with a demonstrable capability to deliver strategic changes to the CLS database architecture.

You should have proven experience in line management, and you should be able to demonstrate strong communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to communicate with stakeholders at all levels.

An understanding of the management of genomic data in the context of longitudinal cohorts is desirable.
