The IOE’s Department of Social Science are looking for two interns to be based in the Centre for Longitudinal Studies’ (CLS) Cross Cohort Research Programme (CCRP).

Salary will be £372.30 per week (based on the London Living Wage and a 36.5 hour week).
Plus a contribution towards travel (Economy class return airfare up to a maximum of £700) and subsistence costs (up to £37.00 per day).
Applicants are invited for 4 CCRP research intern positions in the Department of Social Science (DSS) which houses the Centre for Longitudinal Studies (CLS), a European and Social Research Council (ESRC) Resource Centre. CLS has responsibility for four of Britain’s internationally renowned cohort studies. These are; The 1958 National Child Development Study (NCDS), the 1970 British Cohort Study (BCS70), the Millennium Cohort Study (MCS) and Next Steps (formerly the Longitudinal Study of Young People in England).
As well as development of the cohort studies, CLS conducts research programmes including the CLS Cross Cohort Research Programme (CCRP).
These 4 internships are available from May 2018 working full time weekly hours of 36.5.
We welcome applications from students nearing the completion of their PhD or early career researchers.
The successful candidates will be expected to conduct analysis and publish substantive research in topics related to the remit of the Cross Cohort Research Programme and will be expected to collaborate with other researchers based at the Centre for Longitudinal Studies.
Person specification
You will have research experience in any of the major applied quantitative disciplines, including epidemiology, social statistics, demography, population, health, sociology, psychology, economics, or social policy.
You will have a good understanding of applied quantitative research methods, specifically in the application of a range of statistical methods for the analysis of large-scale longitudinal datasets.
You will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to work with academic collaborators.
Experience of contributing to the design of a longitudinal study, or other major survey, or of working on a large scale complex research programme, is not essential but would be an advantage.
